Distraction of the day
Ugh, you guys, today's dictionary.com word of the day is Imago: an idealized concept of a loved one, formed in childhood and retained unaltered in adult life.

I have actual things I'm supposed to be doing, but nooooo, now I'm going to spend all day trying to figure out how to turn that into a fic.

Ah! I've never heard that word before, but it does sound like the perfect prompt for writing. You'll do amazing things with it. :D

*writing down that word, as well*

Isn't it a good one? I think it should be today's universal prompt and everyone should write fic based on it. That is my wish. (And I'll try to come up with something too. *g*)

There's nothing I like more than learning new, interesting words. Like rozbliuto, which is the feeling you have for someone you used to be in love with, but no longer are. Or circumlocution, which means using a lot of words to describe a fairly simple concept.

God, words. Haha, I feel like I know none of them at all, sometimes. I'm a blight on the English major landscape.

I know what you mean; for all that I have a good vocabulary in theory, I never use the bulk of my lexicon. I do try though, I have a set of books called The Highly Selective Dictionary (& Thesaurus) for the Extraordinarily Literate. They're loads of fun to flip through. :D

THAT SOUNDS SO AMAZING. Hahaha, dude. I love that you have that dictionary.
